Our Story

Hi! We are Cathy and Teresa, the dynamic duo behind the Furrow + Forge brand.

The truth is we are hustler’s at heart. We’ve stood where you are now - bootstrapped and stretched thin; juggling motherhood, the home economy, self-care, and a job.

When we began our families, we dreamt of greater flexibility and the freedom to choose how and when to work. It wasn’t long before we burnt out of our corporate 9-5s and began quietly freelancing. For several years we were (separately) helping small businesses, consultants, coaches, communities, and creatives with marketing strategy, web design, thought leadership, and SEO.

When we got together to talk about joining forces, we realized our clients were mostly women getting stuck on two things…

1. Lack of confidence when marketing themselves

We often ask for little, give much, and spin with indecision because we want to give THE BEST value.

2. Limited time and energy

We often take on too much, try to do it alone, and expect a lot of ourselves - it is exhausting!

It was a moment where we held a mirror to ourselves, realizing that we also needed confidence and support to grow our businesses - and we found it in each other.

Now it is our joy to offer it to other women entrepreneurs as empathic partners helping to balance time, energy, and life outside the grind while building an online presence.

I’ve always been obsessed with organizing and optimizing—whether it was library collections, research databases, or now, the wild world of the internet. With a background in library science and research (yes, I was the cool librarian who knew all the shortcuts), I now help businesses, nonprofits, and solopreneurs get found online with smart SEO and content strategy.

  • I’m the kind of person who gets excited about keyword trends, loves a deep dive into analytics, and can untangle messy content like a pro. Over the years, I’ve worked with industries ranging from e-commerce and healthcare to wine importing (yes, that was a fun one). I also moonlight as a research guru, helping doctoral candidates wrangle their theses and businesses turn complex information into compelling, searchable content.

    When I’m not knee-deep in SEO audits or crafting content strategies, you’ll find me hiking, reading YA fiction, or plotting my dream sustainable urban farm.

After leaving the corporate grind to juggle kids and a career, I’ve never looked back. My background spans legal marketing for big firms, client success for boutiques, and audience engagement for membership communities. With 16 years of freelancing (yes, I am a side-hustler at heart), I help professionals and businesses create killer brands, build trust with an audience, and build a thriving business—and say goodbye to the hustle culture in search of more meaningful work.

I’m also a writer for the legal industry, a LinkedIn content nerd, and an SEO wizard-in-training (Cathy is really the expert here, but it absolutely fascinates me). I love building strategies that turn leads into superfans—especially for busy Mamas who need to consult or build a business for more flexible work options (because that’s me too).

    I left the city life 4 years ago to live in a rural town on 1.5 acres where my husband and I enjoy the slow life with our kids, a dog, and a large market garden. We grow produce to eat year-round, sell at farm markets in summer, and work-from-home as solopreneurs. It’s a well-balanced life that enables creativity, well-being, and community.
