Oh hello there 2025
New Year's Eve passed without much ado. I went to bed at 9:30. But as soon as January hit, I caught the bug as I usually do… I am on fire with plans and goals.
The truth is, I am a hustler. A doer who can’t sit still. Far too often I have fallen into the trap of hustle culture’s gurus shouting “this is the right way” and spun my wheels in the mud.
No more. For four years, I been striving to cultivate a heart posture that puts an intentional life above gain, achievement, money…
Being a sucker for hustling means I very much need a lifestyle that is also slow and intentional. I’m still learning to advocate for the much needed boundaries - to say no, accommodate a bit less, prioritize health, and stay out of the weeds. This is precisely why we moved to a rural town of 300 people, and why I have plans to slowly gather a digital small town of like-minded ladies within Furrow and Forge.
So here I am, quite late to the party, sharing what I will be gently working towards in 2025.
I want to:
Paint regularly and complete three outstanding commissions from friends and family: a duck pond, a french cafe, and a family vacation scene.
Grow and preserve more food from our market gardens, expand the pumpkin patch and farm stand.
Take part in 1-2 farm markets selling sourdough and breads.
Plan a summer camp out for family friends on our acre of land.
Write another screenplay with my husband (just for fun, it’s our hobby to imagine the world differently).
Launch a personal branding course for people who find personal branding icky (80% complete)
Be an accountability companion to about 6 women, to strategically build their online presence and brand authority (personal or business) while keeping them out of hustle culture's ditches.
Looking at this list, I can confidently say that I’ve jumped off the hamster wheel and into a life I truly enjoy and thrive in.
What did you put on your list that prioritizes joy and thriving?
